Its geothermal waters are believed to have healing properties, drawing pilgrims and visitors alike.

About

Sita Kund lies at Mirzapur–Bardah village, a few kilometres east of Munger town on the bank of the Ganga. According to legend, it is the place where Sita underwent her fire ordeal (agni pariksha), and the warmth of the spring is said to date from that event.

The site centres on a hot spring whose clear, bubbling water is kept warm by geothermal sources. Nearby are cooler tanks — Ram Kund to the north and Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughna Kund to the west — named for Lord Rama's brothers. Many devotees bathe here in the belief that the mineral-rich waters have healing properties.

  • Note: The spring water can be quite hot; test the temperature before bathing and supervise children.
