Mahavir Mandir, Patna

📍 Patna, Central Bihar, Bihar

Why visit

One of the most visited Hanuman temples in North India, standing right beside Patna Junction. It is among the busiest and richest temples in Bihar, famous for its Naivedyam (Tirupati-style laddoo prasad). The temple trust funds hospitals and social causes, and set an example by appointing a Dalit priest alongside the traditional one.

About

The Mahavir Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located directly in front of Patna Junction railway station. Believed to be a Manokamna (wish-fulfilling) temple, it draws a continuous stream of devotees throughout the day and is thronged on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The temple is run by the Mahavir Mandir Trust, one of the largest religious trusts in the state, which channels its income into cancer hospitals, eye care and charitable work.

  • Twin Hanuman idols — Parmar and Sankatmochan forms in the sanctum.
  • Naivedyam prasad — the celebrated laddoo offering.
  • Convenient location — steps from the railway station and city centre.
